Bring Green Into Your Organizing Solutions
April 22 is Earth Day. Celebrate our planet's birthday by taking some proactive steps to live greener and be more organized. The following are some helpful "green" tips from our organizing team…
|
Tips from Kristin White del Rosso, President
Choose quality items over quantity. Remember the old saying "less is more"- less stuff to maintain means you have more time to live.
Opt out for mailed bank statements, utility bills, credit card bills and credit card statements. This will stop the paper coming into your house.
Purchase sustainable products - examples are bamboo, cotton and corn, which can be replenished at the same rate that they are consumed.

Tips from Fiorella Sabato, Organizing Consultant
Reduce the amount of Junk Mail… Permanently!!
If you find that you are spending most of your mail sorting time throwing junk mail letter after junk mail letter into the recycling bin, why not take a few minute and visit the Direct Marketing Association's Mail Preference Service (www.directmail.com or call 1-888-690-2252) and register on the National "do not mail" list. After several weeks or a month or two, you will notice a decrease in the amount of junk mail in your mailbox. (I'm sure the mailman will be grateful too!!).

Tips from Kristina Barrett, Organizing Consultant
When shredding unwanted documents, save the shredded material to use around the house.
Shredded paper is great to use for shipping, cushioning fragile items for storage, stuffing around Christmas ornaments and even to add to your compost pile.
