Create More Green Space in Your Mailbox with Catalog Choice
Tired of the endless deluge of catalogs that fill your mailbox each week? Catalog Choice is a great resource for reducing mailbox clutter while helping save paper and other natural resources. In essence, it is a free service that allows you to decide what gets in your mailbox.
The mission of Catalog Choice is to reduce the number of repeat and unsolicited catalog mailings, and to promote the adoption of sustainable industry best practices. The service aims to accomplish this by freely providing the Catalog Choice services to both consumers and businesses. Consumers can indicate which catalogs they no longer wish to receive, and businesses can receive a list of consumers no longer wanting to receive their catalogs.
The following are steps to using Catalog Choice (www.catalogchoice.org):
Step 1: Sign up.
Fill out the online registration form using your name and primary mailing address. Your contact information will only be used for the purpose of declining (opting-out of) catalogs.
Step 2: Find your catalogs.
Find and decline your catalogs, using the Catalog Choice search facilities. Catalog Choice will then contact the catalog providers on your behalf, requesting that your name be removed from their mailing lists.
Step 3: See the results.
It can take up to ten weeks to process your request, after which time you should no longer receive your declined catalogs. If you do continue to receive them, you can return to the Catalog Choice site to report the infraction, and Catalog Choice follow up with the merchant.
